The Scottish Pistol Association(now STS) runs postal competitions twice a year.
The Summer season from May to September.
The Winter season from October to March.

The Postal League classifications are purely on average scores.
Shooters will only be identified by their first initial and their surname.
If there is more than one person with the same name and initial it may be necessary to use forename.
Anyone can enter as an individual, but all cards must be witnessed, therefore entering as a club member is usually more practical.
Postal Competitions Course’s of Fire
All Air Pistol Competitions are shot in .177 (4, 5) calibre
60 shot match comprises of 12 cards with 5 shots on each of the 4/89 cards in 105 minutes
40 shot match comprises of 8 cards with 5 shots on each of the 4/89 cards in 80 minutes
30 shot match ½ course comprises of 6 cards with 5 shots on each of the 4/89 cards in 50 minutes
Standard Pistol ½ course Targets 4/89
6 cards per round
2 series of 5 shots in 150 seconds
2 series of 5 shots in 20 seconds
2 series of 5 shots in 10 seconds
3 series of 5 shots in 5 minutes on 4/89 cards
3 series of 5 shots. 1 shot per 3 second with a 7 second delay between exposures on Air 10 cards
Police Pistol 1 Targets DP2 ½ size
12 shots in 2 minutes, this includes reloading
12 shots in 2 strings of 6 appearances of 2 seconds with intervals of 5 seconds. 1 shot to be fired on each appearance. This practice will be shot twice.
3 appearances of 2 seconds with a 5 second interval. 2 shots to be fired on each appearance.
25m Air Pistol (LRAP) Targets SPA1 or PL14 at 20 yards
3 series of 10 shots per target in 30 minutes
.22 Free Pistol (Longarm 60) Targets SPA1 or PL14 at 20 yards
3 series of 10 shots per target in 60 minutes
Muzzle Loading Pistol Targets PL7
13 shots in 30 minutes. No sighting shots. The best 10 to count.
Gallery Rifle Police Targets DP2
25m - 12 shots in 5 minutes, this includes reloading
15m - 12 shots in 2 strings of 6, 1 shot per 2 second exposure
10m - 6 shots, 2 shots per 2 second exposure

25 metre - 6 shots in 15 seconds on the left hand target
20 metre - 6 shots in 10 seconds, 3 on each of the 2 targets
15 metre - 6 shots, 2 on each 3 second exposure of the right hand target
10 metre - 6 shots in 8 seconds, 3 on each of the 2 targets
Precision Targets SPA1 or PL14 at 20 yards
4 series of 5 shots , 5 minutes per series
Sport Rifle Targets :- S.P.A.1 or PL14 at 20 yards
3 series of 10 shots, 10 minutes per series
